The painting is titled Mr. Pynchon and the Settling of Springfield and was done by Italian artist Umberto Romano. The image has sparked conversation on social media, with some speculating about the device and the man’s expression. Some suggest the device could be a hand mirror or an axe head. Other artworks, like a 17th century painting with a ‘Nike trainer,’ have also led to time travel theories.
